Sullivan begins his third season as Head Coach of the Denison University men's basketball program in 2022-23, and is in his 12th season with the Big Red overall. Denison men’s basketball finished its 2021-22 season, its second season overall but first full season under the direction of Coach Sullivan, with a 13-13 overall record and an 11-7 record in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Big Red earned the No. 5 seed for the NCAC tournament before beating Coach Sullivan’s alma mater, No. 4-seeded Wittenberg University, 62-58 in the quarterfinals to advance to the NCAC semifinals, where they fell to No. 16 nationally-ranked and eventual NCAC Champion and NCAA Final Four participate Wabash College. In his first season as head coach in 2020-21, Sullivan had to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic, and his team went 5-5 in a shortened winter season. On March 10, 2020, Chris Sullivan became Denison’s 21st Head Men’s Basketball Coach in the 121-year history of the program. Sullivan takes over for Bob Ghiloni who announced his retirement after 18 seasons leading the Big Red. Sullivan recently completed his ninth season as an assistant coach and his fourth year as associate head coach. In 2017, he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Under Armour 30 under 30 list highlighting the top men’s basketball coaches in the nation under the age of 30. Since his arrival in the 2011-12 season and during his time as an assistant coach, the Big Red have won a NCAC title (2016), which earned the program it's first automatic bid to play in the NCAA Tournament; won a program-record 22 games in a season, earned top-25 and top-10 national rankings, made the NCAC Tournament semi-finals five times and won 120 games. He helped coach two all-region players in Dimonde Hale and Jett Speelman. Sullivan accepted the lead assistant coaching position at Denison after a stellar career at Wittenberg University. He was named to the D3hoops.com All-American team in 2011 where he set the program and conference record for 3-pointers made in a season (120). He is one of 20 All-Americans produced by Wittenberg. He scored 1,090 points in his collegiate career and is Wittenberg’s career leader in 3-pointers made (241). Sullivan graduated from Wittenberg in 2011 with a degree in Sport Management. Sullivan comes from a family of coaches as his brother, Kevin, is currently the lead assistant at Emory University; Brian, is the Director of student-athlete development for Davidson College’s men’s basketball program, and his father, Greg, is the Director of the Positive Coaching and Leadership Masters program at the University of Missouri.

In 2020, the Big Red went 5-5 in their shortened winter season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. "We are really excited to have DeVon join our staff,” said Head Coach Chris Sullivan. “He's a focused and mature young man with a growth mindset and a passion for mentoring student-athletes both on and off the court. DeVon will be a great addition to our program, our athletic department, and the Denison community at large." Price comes to Granville after spending the last two seasons as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Bluffton University in Bluffton, Ohio. In his two seasons at Bluffton, Price assisted the Beavers to an overall record of 33-20, including an 18-9 mark during the 2018-19 campaign, which equaled the school record for the most victories in a season. Price’s primary responsibilities while on staff at Bluffton were recruiting, player development, strength and conditioning, film breakdown/scouting upcoming opponents, monitoring academics, and day-to-day operations. Price also helped three different players obtain All-Heartland Conference honors over his two seasons at Bluffton, including the HCAC’s first-ever Defensive Player of the Year in Dezman Brown. Prior to his time at Bluffton, Price was a two-year starter at the University of Rio Grande and was named a captain his senior year after spending his first two years at Saint Joseph’s College of Indiana. Price led the Redstorm in both assists and steals as a junior and senior and also earned the Champions of Character award for the River States Conference as a senior. He was a two-time NABC Honors Court Academic Award and River States Conference Scholar-Athlete recipient. Price has also volunteered his coaching expertise at many basketball camps across the country, including those hosted by Denison, Rio Grande, Marietta College, University of Tennessee-Martin, University of Dayton, and the Caris LeVert Basketball Academy. A native of Pickerington, Ohio, Price graduated cum laude from Rio Grande in 2018 with a 3.51 grade-point average and his bachelor’s degree in communication. He also recently obtained his master’s degree in business administration from Bluffton University where he sported a 3.6 GPA. |
Ethan Quinn will be entering his second season as an assistant coach on the men’s basketball staff at Denison University for the 2022-23 season. Coach Quinn arrived in Granville after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program at Ohio Dominican University. During his time at ODU, he was in charge of recruiting, working with the post players, booking all accommodations for road trips and day to day operations. Coach has had a unique journey getting into the college basketball world after being a college football player for four years. He graduated in 2017 from ODU with a bachelors degree in sports management and a minor in coaching. A native of Jackson, Ohio, Coach currently resides in Hilliard with his wife, Haley. |
